Chair of Mid Ulster Council, Councillor Eugene McConnell, with the help of young ‘Alice’, Grace from Magherafelt launches the popular event Lumarina which takes place on August 17.
Mid Ulster Council is thrilled to announce the return of the hugely popular Lumarina event, set to take place on Saturday, August 17, from 4pm to 10pm.
This year's theme, 'Alice in Wonderland,' promises to transport attendees into a world of enchantment and wonder at Ballyronan Marina.
The highlight of the night will be an illuminated fireworks display at approximately 9:45pm, designed to dazzle audiences of all ages. This spectacular show will be a fitting finale to an evening brimming with entertainment and magical experiences.
Visitors can look forward to an array of attractions including Fire Performers, a Funfair and children’s activities such as magic and puppet shows and a illuminated riverside trail behind the Play Park.
Ballyronan's local eateries, conveniently located within walking distance of the Marina, will be open throughout the event. They will offer a variety of refreshments, snacks, and hot food, ensuring that all attendees can enjoy a delightful culinary experience while they explore the festivities.
Councillor Eugene McConnell, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, expressed his excitement for the event, saying: "This event is one of the highlights of our annual calendar we are incredibly excited to bring the people of Mid Ulster together for another unforgettable Lumarina event. With the enchanting 'Alice in Wonderland' theme, we aim to create a magical evening for families and individuals alike.
Lumarina showcases the fantastic facilities at Ballyronan, offering enjoyment for the whole family. Additionally, it brings in around 9,000 visitors who not only enjoy the Marina's attractions but also support Ballyronan's local tourism and hospitality businesses, thereby boosting the village's economy."
To accommodate the expected crowd, additional parking will be available at two adjacent in-field sites, with stewards and signage to guide attendees. Extra parking for blue badge holders will be provided within the Marina.
Disabled Car Parking (with a viewpoint for firework) will be made available in the elevated car park (spaces limited).
Additionally, the site features a changing places facility located inside the marina centre offering inclusive toilets and changing facilities, with additional disabled port-a-loo toilets.
A community bus will be arranged as a shuttle service, providing transportation to and from the field car parks to assist disabled patrons.
Please be advised that a one-way traffic system will be implemented, entering from B18 Shore Road and exiting at the Ballynagarve Road junction, effective from 3pm to 11pm on the day of the event.
