Aidan Dayr of Athletic NI presents Niall with his Gold medal for the Ulster title.
Niall McGuigan has completed some of the toughest endurance events throughout Ireland and despite his victories, there is no sign of the Swatragh man stopping.
In his most recent challenge the ultra runner conquered a mammoth 135 miles in under 24 hours.
The former Michael Davitt GAC footballer and hurler ran the Irish and Ulster 24 hour Championship recently, finishing in second place overall, winning the Irish silver medal.
While Niall admits that the event was his toughest championship to date, due to having missed training following an injury picked up after the Belfast to Derry Ultra, he was delighted to retain the Ulster title he won last year.
The overall winner of the Irish and Ulster 24 hour Championship, which was organised by ATLAS Running and took place in Belfast, was Jason Nichol from Cork while Donegal man Eddie Gallon was placed third.
Despite a cold and wet start, conditions soon got a lot warmer when the sun came out and Niall said that he felt like giving up several times, however he pushed on and got through it.
His silver victory means he now has a full set of Irish medals – a gold from last year and a bronze from 2022 - something not many runners can claim.
Niall was presented with his medal by John O'Regan, from Athletics Ireland.
