Rally in support of Palestine to be held in Derry this weekend

The Derry Branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign will stage a rally for Palestine on Saturday, October 21 at 1pm in Guildhall Square.

A spokesperson for Derry IPSC said the rally is part of a global mobilisation for Gaza.

"We call out the UK, US and EU for their complicity in facilitating a genocidal campaign by the Israeli military machine.

"All leading human rights organisations, the World Health Organisation and UNICEF have called on the Israeli government to end the siege of Gaza.

"There is no legal or moral justification for bombing schools and hospitals.

"It is barbarism for the Israeli State to starve 2.5 million people in the Gaza prison camp.

"Netanyahu tells Palestinians to leave their homes and flee as his air force bomb their escape routes.

"International law is being shredded to facilitate the extermination of the residents of Gaza.

"We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian resistance and their heroic struggle for freedom and dignity.

"We salute their courage and resilience in the face of brutal repression and collective punishment.

"We call on the international community to take urgent action to stop the Israeli aggression and hold it accountable for its violations of international law.

"We also call on the Irish government to uphold its moral and legal obligations to support the Palestinian cause and to impose sanctions on Israel until it complies with its obligations under international law.

"The Israeli ambassador to Ireland must be expelled.

"We urge the Irish people to join the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement and to boycott Israeli goods, services, institutions and cultural events.

"We believe that a free Palestine is possible and that peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through justice. We invite everyone who shares this vision to join us in our rally and to raise their voices for Palestine."
