One of Coleraine's oldest businesses is set to close its doors after celebrating their 50th year of trading earlier this year.

Farlows Fruit and Veg shop was first opened on Brook Street in June 1973.

However, after five decades of serving the local community, owners Lilly and William Farlow have decided it is time to take a well earned rest.

William and Lilly provide quality fresh fruit and vegetables, sourced locally where possible, and are renowned throughout the local area by customers and businesses alike.

Commenting on the closure, Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Steven Callaghan, said: “Farlow's is one of Coleraine’s oldest businesses and many people will be sad to see it go.

“I want to pay tribute to the owners and staff for the service they have provided local people, as well as the loyal customers who have supported them, over the last five decades. I wish them well for the future.”

Despite the Farlow's making the decision to close their store, the shopfront will hopefully continue to trade and sell fruit and vegetables.

Mervyn White from Magherafelt is planning to take over the business after it has been modernised.
