Sean Den has been DJing for the last decade and began producing his own music during lockdown
Sean Den began DJing ten years ago after holidaying in Ibiza in his early twenties made him fall in love with house and disco music.
The 32 year old now produces his own house tracks and gigs in Derry and beyond.
Speaking to County Derry Post, Sean said he wasn't always this passionate about music, "Growing up, I wouldn't say I was musical, I had an interest in the way that I would listen to music but I didn't play any instruments or anything like that," he explained. "I never paid a lot of attention in music class in school, I was probably the other way around and took the hand in class," he laughed.
"I got into this style of music from going to Ibiza in my early twenties so over the last ten years my love and interest for this style of music has grown and grown."
Whilst Sean has gigged for almost a decade now, it wasn't until lockdown that he began creating and producing his own music.
He continued; "I always wanted to produce my own music but like everything else and working full time at the family business and playing football, I never had the time to fully focus on creating my own.
"So, during lockdown and after an injury that meant I couldn't play, I began producing my own music in the house.
"Now, I am working on making tunes every single day. Whatever free time I get- lunch breaks included- I am working on my music. Evenings, weekends, any spare minute, I am filling my time with music.
"I've also been gigging loads this past while. I have been gigging over in London and gigging in Derry in between times."
Sean's new track 'Just Wanna' is set to be released on August 4 this year
Sean's latest song has also been aired on Radio 1's 'Future Dance' a number of times which he explained was "a bit surreal" as he heard his name mentioned amongst big names in the business.
As a result, his track was played at this year's Glastonbury Festival by BBC Radio 1 Host and DJ, Sarah Story, debuted Sean's track to the crowds.
Sean says he has no immediate plans to pursue music full time and is simply planning to continue to work hard and do something he loves.
Sean added: "I am enjoying the ride at the minute but never say never, we'll see how things go.
"I'll see what happens and take it from there. I wouldn't rule anything out. I'll take whatever comes in my stride. I love working for the family business too, so if there was a way to do both, I would do that.
"I'll just keep my head down and keep working away. There is nothing better than playing music to a crowd of people and it's even better when it's your own- there is no feeling like it."
Sean's new track 'Just Wanna' is set to be released on August 4 this year.
