Local woman, Rachel Kane, is hosting a fundraiser with all proceeds to be donated to Foyle Women's Aid in the city.

Foyle Women's Aid is a charity based in Derry who aim to eliminate domestic abuse and sexual violence, through raising awareness, preventive educational advice and support.

Rachel is liaising with local businesses to donate items and vouchers towards a luxury hamper which one lucky winner will receive.

Anybody can buy tickets for £5 and every £5 donation is equal to a chance to win the hamper full of local goodies.

Rachel said the funds raised will be helping an amazing charity, "I am doing this to help raise vital funds for Foyle Womens Aid who are amazing," she said.

"This will help them to support, educate and raise awareness about domestic violence and the impact of such.

"This will allow them to continue to support women and children who have and are experiencing domestic abuse.

"Thank you to all the local businesses who have and are donating. Once all items are received they will be placed into hampers and pictures will be shown of them.

"I have recently had firsthand experience of Foyle Women's Aid support and they were my strength to keep going.

"They provide an empathetic response and a listening ear. Through the use of support workers and groups they provide emotional support and education around abuse, trauma and coping with the impact of surviving physical, emotional,
verbal and sexual abuse.

"Please donate and help me raise vital funds for them."

A spokesperson from Foyle Women's Aid said: "We would like to thank Rachel for all her hard work on our behalf.

"Not only is she raising badly needed funds, but also raising awareness about the work of Foyle Women’s Aid. We would also like to acknowledge all those who have contributed, especially in these difficult times. Every penny raised will help women and children escape abuse."
