'We will all enjoy a more secure water supply' - Cllr Martin Reilly.
The construction work currently being undertaken across the Waterside by NI Water will be completed by Easter.
The timescale has been welcomed by Derry City and Strabane District councillor, Martin Reilly (SDLP).
Speaking following an update from NI Water, Cllr Reilly said: “The NI Water improvement work has been underway across various parts of the Waterside since Spring last year, so I was glad to hear from the construction company behind the work that they are on target for completion in the next few weeks and aim for it all to be concluded by Easter.
“The people across the Waterside have shown great patience as the major improvement pipelaying has resulted in closed roads, diversions, blocked footpaths and construction noise for the past year.
“This disruption will be beneficial in the long run as we will all enjoy a more secure water supply servicing this part of our city well into the future.
“I also want to thank the construction company for keeping local residents and representatives informed over the duration of the work."
