Would you like to help shape the programme for the WOW festival 2015?

The North West Women’s Collective is holding a series of ‘think ins’ in the lead up to the November weekend of the event.

The two hour lively sessions with invaluable contributions from women in the North West produce a wish list of ideas, suggestions and speakers which influence the shape of the topics, issues and debates for the festival programme.

The think-ins will take place this Thursday, 4 June, from 7.00pm- 9.00pm at the Caw/Nelson Drive Cultural and Community Centre and this Saturday, 6 June, 2.0pm-4.00pm at The Playhouse, Artillery Street.

The WOW festival itself, which last year attracted over 100 participants to the Playhouse , is a celebration of the lives that women of all ages live, not just locally, but right across the world.

It’s a real empowering experience and the NWWC has managed to keep all the events free of charge inspite of funding challenges.

Phil Mahon, chairperson of NWWC, said: “We’re thrilled at the prospect of organising WOW for the third year in a row here in the city. Although WOW has its origins in the Southbank Centre in London, we, in the North West feel part of a global network of festivals which stretches from Cambridge in England to Syndey Australia and growing all the time.

“We’re particularly proud of the fact that WOW Derry –Londonderry is the only WOW festival on the island of Ireland.”

Phil said they wanted to hear your ideas for WOW 2015.

She added: “Just come along yourself or with friends. Have a cup of tea or coffee. Then roll up your sleeves and let those big ideas out.”
