St Mary’s College, Derry was the host venue for the North West qualifier for the Ulster Rugby Girls School Cup.
Eight teams from St Mary’s, St Cecilia’s, Thornhill, Oakgrove, Limavady High School and Limavady Grammar all competed in the tag rugby event.
The schools have had non-contact rugby coaching sessions before going into the competitive games.
The teams were split into two pools with a round robin of games in each,  the top team from each pool progressing to the quarter final stage of the competition.
After some very competitive games, Oakgrove College were winners of Pool A and St Cecilia’s (pictured) progressed from Pool B.
Oakgrove and St Cecilia’s will now meet the winners of the North East and Belfast qualifiers in the quarter finals at the start of March.
Any school can avail of introductory rugby sessions by contacting Female Rugby officer Glenda Mellon on 07442490459 or glenda.mellon@ulsterrugby.com.
