Free Derry Corner being painted in the Palestinian colours

Derry's most iconic 20th century landmark, Free Derry Corner, is tonight being painted in the Palestinian colours to highlight last week's massacre in Gaza.

The move follows a rally at the monument last week to protest against the killing of almost 60 demonstrators, and the wounding of thousands of others, by Israeli forces.

On Monday, Derry's Council adopted a range of measures to protest against the massacre - including lighting up the Council Offices on Strand Road in the Palestinian colours.
