GAA legend Anthony Tohill will lead the setting up of and management of the new Mid Ulster Council, it has been revealed.
Tohill, a four-time GAA All Star, who was a member of the Derry senior team which won the All-Ireland in 1993, is expected to take up his role as Chief Executive of the Mid Ulster Statutory Transition Committee in the coming weeks.
The focus of the new role will be to establish the new Council, particularly following the Local Election to the Shadow Council in May and executive management of the new organisation.
Mr Tohill, who lives in Swatragh, is currently a Strategic Director with Derry City Council.
