Farrell hails 'fantastic' first preference tally.

SDLP councillor Rory Farrell was re-elected to Ballyarnett with 1,405 first preference votes - a significant increase on his 2019 tally of 1,170.

Farrell, who was elected on the first count along with Sinn Fein's Sandra Duffy, said: "Obviously I'm happy. It's a fantastic number of first preference votes and I'm hoping my party colleagues (Brian Tierney and Catherine McDaid) can follow me in.

"We came in (to Ballyarnett ward) with three and it's looking like we could retain them, so it's all to play for."
Catherine McDaid has joined Farrell and Tierney on the ticket following the SDLP's Angela Dobbins having decided to stand down at this election.

McDaid polled 856 first preference votes while Tierney polled 1006. The quota is 1392.
