Police are currently in attendance at a three-car road traffic accident on the Moneygran Road, approximately two miles from Kilrea.

Diversions have been put in place and motorists are advised to expect delays in this area.

Over the past couple of months, there have been several accidents along this stretch of road.

Local councillor, Martin Kearney, who has been involved in an ongoing campaign regarding safety on the Moneygran Road has appealed for motorists to drive with care.

He said: “I have been involved in ongoing discussions to improve safety on this road for some time now.  In the past few months there have been a large volume of accidents along the Moneygran Road.

“This morning’s accident, involving three vehicles, shows just how dangerous this road can be.

“I hope there have been no serious injuries as a result.

“I would urge all motorists to take care on all roads, especially at this time of the year.

“Hopefully, Roads Service will act as soon as they can to improve the surface of this road,” said Mr Kearney.
