A 50-years-old Derry woman was remanded in custody when she appeared at the city's Magistrate's Court today on burglary and fraud charges.

Donna McDermott, from Hatmore Park, was charged with fraud by false representation in relation to goods being returned to Dunnes Stores and burglary with intent to steal on Wednesday last, 28 August.

Defence solicitor, Paddy MacDermott, said there would be no bail application at this stage.

Connecting McDermott to the charges, a police officer told the court the accused had made full admissions and had expressed remorse.

Pointing out McDermott had “no record,” Mr MacDermott asked for a short remand to see if a suitable address could be found.

McDermott was remanded in custody to appear again on Thursday next, 5 September.
