People living in Derry have been urged to tell their story about the Troubles.

An international social media campaign has been launched by video storytelling project, Border Lives.

The project which documents the real stories of real people living on the border during the Northern Ireland conflict have been captured in six unique films.

The Border Lives project is run by Tyrone Donegal Partnership and funded by the European Union's PEACE III Programme, managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by the Community Relations Council/ Pobal Consortium.

Now the Border Lives team has launched a social media campaign inviting the diaspora who once lived on the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to tell their stories.

Using a specially designed Facebook app, the Twitter hashtag #BorderLives and a video explaining the project, the social media team will engage in outreach to international media, bloggers and the global online village.

The diaspora are encouraged to tell their own Border Lives stories by sharing memories and experiences and detailing how life has changed since moving away.

Border Lives Social Media Officer, “We are very excited to engage the Irish and Northern Irish Diaspora across the world who can positively contribute to this project.  All stories and content will be reviewed by the Border Lives team and those chosen for publication will be shared on our website, social media sites and even showcased at a major project presentation of the Border Lives Project in Stormont on 30th September.”
