Traffic and parking advice ahead of busy sporting weekend in Derry

Police in Derry are advising motorists and residents to prepare for increased traffic and potential congestion in the city this weekend due to two major football fixtures.

The Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium will host Derry City FC vs. Drogheda United on Friday, March 20, with kick-off scheduled for 7:45pm. Following this, on Sunday, March 22, Derry face Cavan in the Allianz Football League at Celtic Park, with a throw-in time of 1:15pm.

Police are urging those attending the matches to park legally and with consideration for the local community.

"If you're attending any of these games and need to park, be mindful not to block private entrances or cause an obstruction to other road users, local residents and emergency services," a police spokesperson said.

"If you’re driving in the area around these times, please be mindful of pedestrians and the increased traffic, and drive with extra caution."
