A minute’s silence was held in Celtic Park before Saturday’s Christy Ring Cup match between Derry and Donegal in memory of baby Ellie Mae Gillespie, the daughter of Stephen Gillespie and his wife Amy, who passed away in hospital on Friday evening.
Burt clubman Gillespie, who last year made his landmark 100th appearance for Donegal in the Nickey Rackard final in Croke Park last year, stepped away from the panel this season.

“They had five weeks with the little baby and everybody is heartbroken for them,” Donegal manager Mickey McCann said after Saturday's game in Derry, which the home side won 1-21 to 1-17. “Stephen is very well thought of in our dressing room and we’re just devastated for him.”
Burt's Senior Hurling League clash against St Eunan's in Letterkenny on Friday night was postponed as a mark of respect. Baby Ellie Mae will be laid to rest in Burt on Tuesday.
