Gemma Ó Mórdha
A county Derry woman claimed the title of Ireland’s Strongest Woman for the third time.
Craigbane native Gemma Ó Mórdha took to Facebook to share the news, delighted to have won but reflective on her performance.
She said: “What a day!
“I'm delighted to get the 3 in a row, however little bit of mixed emotions about a few events and not really satisfied with how I performed. That's the joys of competing in strongman, which I absolutely adore all the same.
“Coming off the back of major surgery into this prep was a bit of an emotional roller coaster, with the fear of not getting back to where I was but Sundays performance proved hard work and being doubted pulls out a different level of grit!
“The girls put on a hell of a show, and we are taking strongwoman in Ireland to a whole new level.
Thank you to everyone for all your support through messages etc , greatly appreciate it all and forever grateful.”
In her Facebook post, she thanked all her team, including her coach, Jenny Todd, and nutritionist, Jade Harkin.
Ó Mórdha dominated across the five events, winning three and finishing second in the other two, while also claiming a new Irish record in Max axle with a weight of 90 kg.
