Martin O’Neill believes that Celtic may have already wrapped up the Scottish Premiership.

The County Derry man’s former club are currently nine points ahead of their nearest rivals, Aberdeen, and 11 points ahead of Old Firm rivals, Rangers.

O’Neill, speaking on TalkSport, believes this to be the case as ‘there is a massive gap between them’.

The former Celtic manager said: “On any given Saturday Rangers may pose a threat to Celtic but over a whole league season they are not good enough.

“Aberdeen have done exceptionally well so far, but you are not expecting Aberdeen to keep it going throughout the whole season.

“I don’t think will be complacent, I watched them against Brugges the other evening.

They have gone strongly in the Champions League and even stronger in the SPL.”

The three time Scottish Premiership winning manager believes Celtic are incredibly dominant in their domestic competitions, with the expectation being that the Bhoys will win their matches.

A worrying thought for any Rangers fan as they face off in the League Cup final with Celtic this Sunday.

The former Republic of Ireland manager said: “It is so so important for Rangers, really important for them to try and win the game, again on a given day it is possible, of course it is possible.

“I think it is unlikely but it is possible for them to win a game. This is a must win for Rangers, this League Cup.

“A must win for credibility, for everything under the sun and for the season ahead.”
