Derry City have been drawn away to Cork City in the third round of the FAI Cup.
Ruaidhrí Higgins' men have been given the long journey down to Turner’s Cross, with the game arranged for August 18.
The Candy Stripes overcame the current FAI Cup holders in the previous round, St. Patrick’s Athletic, 3-0 on Sunday.
Cork may prove a challenging opponent as they have only suffered one defeat in the league all year as they sit at the top of the First Division.
This is the first time Derry have been drawn away from the Brandywell in the FAI Cup since August 2021, besides the club's victory in the final at the Aviva Stadium in 2022.
And in their successful 2022 FAI Cup campaign, the Candy Stripes defeated Cork 2-0 at home in the second round on their way to lifting the trophy.
Following Derry’s elimination from the Europa Conference League qualifiers to FC Bruno's Magpies, it was evident to see the intent within the players to bring silverware back to the Brandywell this season in their victory over Stephen Kenny’s St. Pats on Sunday.
Higgins will hope this new-found determination can keep the side hunting success in the league and cup while also denying Cork their first FAI success since 2017.
