Danny Mullen celebrates his first goal.
Derry City 3
St. Patrick's Athletic 1
Derry City got back on track thanks to a Danny Mullen-inspired win at the Brandywell.
The striker scored a goal in each half to help the Candystripes respond from recent poor results and improve the mood considerably around the club.
Mullen's first came after just 15 minutes and was desperately needed as the home fans watch St. Pat's boss the openoing period before Mullen finished well at the back post.
After a nervy first half, the second half exploded into action with three goals in the first 15 minutes.
Derry City doubled their lead on 15 minutes when Mark Connolly showed an outrageous piece of skill to force a fine save from Danny Rogers, but the goalkeeper was out of luck as the rebound fell to Pat Hoban who scored his eighth goal of the season.
St. Pat's pulled a goal back immediately when defender Conor Keeley swept home from Brandon Kavangh's cross.
But any hopes Pat's had of a come back were ended just two minutes later when Mullen scored his second of the night and City's third to secure a much-needed three points for Ruaidhri Higgins.
