Derry got back to winning ways on Sunday thanks to goals from Shane McGuigan, Conor McCluskey and Niall Loughlin.

The Oaks led by four points at the break with Conor McCluskey hitting their vital third goal early in the second half.

It was the home side, with Tommy Conroy in fine form, who controlled the early stages with points from Jack Carney and Ryan Donoghue (free).

McGuigan swung a beauty for Derry before playing to Loughlin for the game’s first goal after 11 minutes.

Mayo hit the net in the next attack, a Jordan Flynn rasper, to go back in the lead and began to take control

A 1-3 Derry brace, including a Shane McGuigan goal, shot Derry on their way to a 2-7 to -14 interval.

It was tit for  tat before McCluskey hammered to the net to give Derry a 3-10 to 1-7 lead after 43 minutes.

Conroy could’ve found the net only for excellent defr3endinfgr om Baker and McKaigue.

Paul Towey did manage a goal with his first touch and Jordan Flynn may have added a third goal only for a fantastic Lynch save.

It was left to Nail Toner to notch two late scores to clinch victory.

Derry complete their campaign at home to Roscommon on Sunday at Celtic Park.
