The PSNI has said that search operation at a building site in Derry was part of an investigation into dissident republican activity.
Detectives from the Terrorism Investigation Unit carried out the search at the former Nazareth House residential home in the Bishop Street area.
Police cordoned off the district at the Sunbeam Terrace area in lower Bishop Street which includes a local primary school and Lumen Christi grammar school where students today collected examination results. Students were however able to continue the collection of examination grades.
Sinn Fein MLA Karen Mullan said: "The local residents do not want this in the area and young people who are filled with hope for their future at this time should not have to see thing type of thing."
