The event to switch on Derry's Christmas lights is returning to the Guildhall Square.

Last year the event was held for the first time at Ebrington Square (picture above).

However, there were complaints about the quality of last year's event, which is viewed as one of the highlights of the city's calendar.

Derry City Council has decided to move the switch-on event back to the Guildhall Square.

It will take place on Thursday, November 20.

The switch on will be followed by a series of themed events which will take place on December 6, 7, 13 and 14 in the Craft Village from 1pm-5pm each day with storytelling, arts and crafts, puppet shows and more.
