Police in Derry have warned householders of the consequences of putting presents around their Christmas trees placed closed to windows.

A PSNI spoikesperson said: "We certainly hope that you have as many presents around your Christmas tree as in the image here.

'But take a closer look; that tree and those presents are a little bit too close to a window. That may allow someone outside to see what is around your tree.'

The spokesperson said keeping presents out of the view of anyone looking in could help ensure they go to the people they were intended for, and not a thief.
