City of Derry Airport confirm all flights to London are cancelled today

City of Derry Airport have confirmed that all flights to London has been cancelled today.

This is due to a fire at an electrical substation supplying Heathrow airport, and so the airport is experiencing a significant power outage.

City of Derry has advised all customers travelling to London to contact their airlines.

However they have also said that all other destinations, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool and Birmingham are open as normal.

A spokesperson for City of Derry Airport said: “ Due to a fire at an electrical substation supplying Heathrow Airport, all London flights from City of Derry Airport have been cancelled today Friday 21 March.  Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport but to contact their airline to make alternative arrangements

“All other flights to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool and Birmingham are operating as normal.

“We will send an update when we are advised of any changes to the ongoing incident.”
