Filming taking place next to Derry Walls
Filming of a new Netflix show is taking place across Derry.
Lisa McGee, the creator of Derry Girls, has brought the filming of her new series ‘How to Get to Heaven From Belfast’, to her hometown.
Market Street in Derry city centre has temporarily been closed on October 16, but businesses on the street remain open for the public, including the Bentley Bar.
Later on in the evening, filming will take place in the Bogside.
The day prior, filming took place in the Ponderosa Bar and Restaurant on the Glenshane Road in County Derry.
The lead cast includes Roísín Gallagher (“The Dry”), Sinéad Keenan (“Little Boy Blue"), and Caoilfhionn Dunne (“A Thousand Blows”).
They will play Saoirse, Robyn, and Dara, three childhood friends, now in their late 30s, who come together over news of a fourth friend’s death, which leads them through an odyssey through Ireland and beyond as they try to piece together the truth of the past.
The 8-part Netflix series is being produced by Hat Trick Productions, a company that brought us Father Ted, Derry Girls, and Have I Got News For You.
Brian J. Falconer produces, while executive producers include McGee, Michael Lennox, Caroline Leddy (“Derry Girls," “The Inbetweeners”), Liz Lewin (“Derry Girls"), and Jimmy Mulville.
