St. Columb's College announce Thursday closure as mark of respect following death of Derry teenager

St. Columb’s College has announced the school will be closed on Thursday as a mark of respect following the death of Kían Dawson. 

The 16-year-old died in a tragic crash in County Donegal on Saturday night.

Kían was a front-seat passenger in the vehicle which crashed at Cross, Quigley's Point, at 11.15pm, with no other vehicles involved in the tragic accident. 

Kían died at the scene and the driver of the car suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

As a mark of respect, St. Columb’s College has taken the decision to close the school on Thursday.

Kían’s remains will be reposing in his home, 23 Carnhill. Funeral from there on Thursday at 10.30am for 11.00am Requiem Mass in St Brigid’s Church, Carnhill. Interment afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Ardmore.
