Bridgend crash victim Davey Doherty to be laid to rest on Friday

The funeral of the Derry native Davey Doherty killed in a road traffic collision in Donegal on Tuesday will take place on Friday.

Mr Doherty, who was aged in his 40s, was involved in a single-vehicle collision at Carrowreagh, Bridgend, on Tuesday morning between 8.30am and 9am.

Mr Doherty was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road at Carrowreagh was closed to enable Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct a technical examination.

Late of St Brecan’s Park, Waterside, Mr Doherty’s Requiem Mass will be held at St Columba’s Church, Long Tower, on Frisay morning at 10am with interment afterwards in the City Cemetery.

He is survived by his children Samantha, Beth and Daithi, his parents Geraldine and Noel, brothers Graham, Gregory and Andrew, nephews and nieces Jake, Amelia, Cain and Cara.

Gardaí continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and who were travelling in the Bridgend to Killea area between 8am and 9.30am on Tuesday August 29, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
