Police attacked after carrying out drug related searches in Derry

Investigation is related to recent drug-related incidents in the city

Detectives from Strand Road Criminal Investigation Branch, supported by Tactical Support Group colleagues, carried out a number of searches in Derry today as part of an ongoing investigation related to recent drug-related incidents in the city.

A number of items were seized, and enquiries are ongoing.

While conducting a search in Creggan, and when leaving the area, masonry and other items were thrown at police, which resulted in damage to a number of vehicles.

There have been no reports of any injuries, at this time.
