It has been confirmed that the postage of Irish Passports to the North has resumed.
Previously, the Passport Office had placed a temporary suspension of posting passports to the North following Royal Mail strikes.
It had led to fresh calls for an Irish passport office in the North which were previously rejected.
MLA Mark H Durkan, was amongst the Councillors who updated the public on the suspension being uplifted.
Mr Durkan said: "This suspension should've been lifted weeks ago. It goes to show the litany of issues and disadvantages Irish citizens in the North are subjected to in the absence of a passport office for this region.
"I've been calling for a provision here for quite some time. Previous Foreign Affairs Minister, Simon Coveney advised me last year that there were no plans for a passport office for NI.
"Given the latest disaster, I wrote to Minister Micheál Martin earlier this month to renew that call.
"This important service should be accessible to all citizens across this island."
