19 reported traffic collisions across Derry and the district since yesterday evening

There have been 19 road traffic collisions reported since 5pm yesterday as the weather causes havoc on the roads.

Snow and minus temperatures have lead to difficult driving conditions with the public encouraged to stay at home if there journey is not essential.

A spokesperson for Police of Derry City and Strabane said: "Please take care on the roads today. We've had 19 reported road traffic collisions in Derry City and Strabane since 5pm yesterday evening through to this morning, Tuesday, 17th January.

"These have occurred in areas across the city, Strabane, Slaughtmanus and Donemana.

"If you are driving, please slow down and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you."
