Men and boys are being urged to sign up an annual event in Derry in support of the Foyle Hospice.
This year’s Hospice Male Walk/Run and Junior Boys Mini Marathon will take place on Sunday, September 24, at 1.30pm with the start and finish point at Sainsbury’s car park.
The event is an important part of the hospice’s fundraising calendar over the past number of years and the organisers hope to attract upwards of 1,000 participants this year.
Noel McMonagle, Community Fundraising Manager at the hospice said: ‘We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our sponsors this year – Seagate, Donnelly & Taggart, H&A heating and building specialists and E&I engineering.
“We would encourage as many of our local male population and junior boys to come along and take part on Sunday 24th September and help us realise our target of 1000 participants.
“Our annual fundraising events & activities contribute to approximately 36% of our total income each year – thus giving a clear indication of the importance of events like our Male Walk/Run & Junior Boys Mini Marathon.
“Our community continue to be extremely supportive of the work of the hospice which in turn allows our dedicated medical & nursing staff to provide ongoing palliative care services for patients with cancer and other life limiting illnesses and we are grateful to them year in and year out for their commitment and dedication.”
