A 59 year-old Derry man accused of murdering a man in the city last year will go on trial in Belfast next month.
Kieran McLaughlin, of Elaghmore Park, is accused of murder, possessing firearms and ammunition with intent, possessing a firearm in suspicious circumstances, possessing an imitation firearm with the intent of causing fear of violence and carrying an imitation firearm in public.
The offences are said to have taken place on October 10 and on various dates throughout that the month in 2013.
McLaughlin is accused of going into a flat on Shipquay Street and shooting 35 year-old Barry McCrory dead on October 10, 2013.
McLaughlin (pictured above at an earlier court appearance) was sought by police in relation to the murder and after almost a week on the run, he was found hiding behind a car in Fern Park in the Galliagh area on October 16, 2013.
A shotgun, ammunition and shotgun cartridges with intent were recovered as well as an imitation firearm.
McLaughlin appeared before Derry Magistrates Court today for a preliminary enquiry where the defence accepted there is a prima facie case to answer.
At this stage of the proceedings, McLaughlin did not wish to say anything in answer to the charges or call any witnesses or give any evidence on his own behalf.
McLaughlin was remanded in continuing custody and will be returned for trial in Belfast on December 5.
