A 50-years-old man from the Waterside area of Derry has been returned from the Magistrate's Court to the Crown Court for his arraignment next month on a series of child sex abuse offences dating back just over 35 years ago.

Alan Brian James Curley, from Lincoln Courts, is alleged to have committed the offences between June 1981 and July 1986.

Appearing at a preliminary enquiry, he faced nine charges of indecently assaulting a male child and one charge of the attempted buggery of a male child.

District Judge Barney McElholm released the defendant on bail of £500 to appear before the Crown Court for his arraignment on the charges on 19 March next.

As part of his bail conditions. Curley must continue to reside at his current address and iss banned from having any contact with any witnesses in the case.
