A 25 year-old Derry man who attacked his brother with a machete in 2012 has pleaded guilty to a number of offences.

Stephen O'Kane, of Rinmore Drive, was re-arraigned on three charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The offences took place on August 16, 2012.

When the charges were put to O'Kane today at Derry Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to all three charges.

He pleaded guilty to lesser degrees of the first two offences.

The prosecution accepted the guilty pleas and a remaining charge of criminal damage was left on the books.

O'Kane will appear back before the court again on June 23 for sentencing.
