2FM's flagship morning program on Saturday was devoted to tracking own a song by new rising Derry band Lavengro.

The Chris & Ciara 11am-1pm show, presented by Chris Greene and Ciara Green, was contacted on Saturday by a caller 'Big Al' on his way to Galway for a Valentine's weekend with his partner 'Lil Meg'.

Al had got stuck with an 'earworm', a snatch of a song he'd heard that he wanted desperately to find and identify.

So he sang a few bars from the tune which he knew was from an up-and-coming Irish band - and Chris and Ciara spent the next ages trying to find it from their previous playlists.

Eventually, they narrowed down the time window and to the delight of all they found the track - Lavengro's 'Think' (the Radio Edit).

RTE then posted the treasure hunt on their website and Facebook page. A spokesperson commented:  "There are no lengths that Chris Greene and Ciara King won't go to in order to help you, folks.

"Lavengro has two new fans in partners and possible rap duo Big Al and Lil Meg.

"All part of the service."

Following the 2FM, Lavengro started a treasure hunt of their own - on Twitter - to try and find Al and Meg.

On Saturday afternoon, they tweeted: "Help us find Big Al as we have 2 x tickets to our @nerve_centre gig on March 2nd for him plus merch and pints."

The searches continued, and just before 5.45am yesterday morning, the band revealed that they had found their newest fan: "We finally found Big Al from @RTE2fm @HateChrisGreene show yesterday. Search Party is called off.  Keep the #IrishMusicParty going."

The tweet, as you would expect, was accompanied by a Gif of Nic Cage winking, bearing the caption: 'We got this.'
