Yvonne Bloomer (née Rea), Seahaven Park, Portstewart

The death has taken place of Yvonne Bloomer (née Rea), January 17 2026, peacefully at hospital, late of Seahaven Park, Portstewart and formerly of Millbank Avenue, Portstewart. Dearly loved wife of the late Harry, much loved mother of Stephen and Andrew, mother-in-law of Fiona and Mandy, a loving nana to 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. House Strictly Private. Funeral Arrangements will follow later. Lovingly remembered by all her family and friends.

 

Matthew Thomas Gracey, 140 Drumbolg Road, Upperlands, Maghera

It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Matthew Thomas Gracey, (suddenly) at home, January 17 2026, 140 Drumbolg Road, Upperlands, Maghera. Dearly-loved father of Jayden, son of Shirley and cherished brother of Stephen, Janice, Tamara, Chelsea and Rachel and dear partner of Samantha. Friends and relatives are welcome to call at the home at any time. Funeral arrangements later. Family flowers only, please. Brian (Bernard) McAteer, San Mateo, California USA (Formerly of  Garvagh)

We regret to inform you of the death of Brian (Bernard) McAteer, died January 14 2026, Peacefully at home in San Mateo California USA, formerly Garvagh. Loving husband of Nancy. Much loved father of John (Julie), Eileen (James) and Jennifer (Sean). Dearly loved by his grandchildren Sarah, Scarlett, Mary, Abigail and Emily. Son of the late Jack and Katie McAteer (Lyttlesdale Garvagh) and brother of Margaret (Mike) and the late Raymond RIP (Mary). Funeral to take place in Our Lady of The Angels Church, Burlingame California. Very deeply regretted by the entire family circle in Wiltshire, Glenullin, and Dublin. Our Lady Queen of Ireland pray for him.

 

James Vincent McCarron, Derry

The death has taken place of the late James Vincent McCarron, January 17 2026, Peacefully at Melmount Manor Care Home, Strabane, husband of Mary, father of Kerry, Stephen, Emma and the late Andrea, grandfather, dear brother of Anne, Eamon, Bernard, and the late Terry and John and friend of Elizabeth Smithies. Requiem Mass will be held in St Columbas Church, Waterside, on Tuesday, January 20 at 10.00am followed by burial in Ballyoan Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to call at D & R Hay and Sons Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6.00pm until 9.00pm. “Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul”

 

Charles McEleney, 16 Curragh Walk, Shantallow, Derry

The death has occurred of the late Charles McEleney, January 18 2026, beloved husband of Majella, loving father of Melissa, Emmett, Shaun Paul, Kieran and Megan, a devoted grandfather and dear brother of Gerard, Edward, Pat, Martin and Paul. His remains will be reposing in his home, 16 Curragh Walk, Shantallow. Funeral from there on Tuesday at 10.30am for 11o’clock Requiem Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Steelstown. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.

 

Eileen McGaughey (née McGilloway), 4 Ashbrook Park, Limavady

The death has occurred of Eileen McGaughey (née McGilloway), peacefully at Altnagelvin Hospital surrounded by her loving family on January 17 2026, 4 Ashbrook Park, Limavady, BT49 0DB and formerly of Ballynally Lane, Moville. Predeceased by her husband Gerard and her sister Sally Cavanagh. Much loved mother of Geraldine (Shirley). Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sister Mary Kelly, nieces and nephews, wider family circle, friends and neighbours. Resting in the Arms of Jesus. Eileen's remains will repose at her home in Limavady today (Monday, January 19) from 2.00pm. Funeral from there on Thursday, January 22 2026 at 9.45am to Derry Donegal Christian Fellowship, 9 Northland Road, Derry for 11.00am, for the Celebration Service of Eileen's life, followed by interment in Ballybrack cemetery. Family time from 10.00pm to 10.00am. Eileen always kept things simple and thoughtful, and to honour Eileen's wishes. Flowers will be from her daughter only, a small reflection of the love they shared every day. For anyone who feels moved to do something in Eileen's memory, donations to Assistance Dogs NI would mean a great deal as Eileen loved dogs. If you wish, you can leave your donation on Assistance Dogs NI Just Giving page in honour of Eileen McGaughey with a wee message if you wish. It's a lovely way to remember Eileen's kindness and the gentle way Eileen moved through the world.

 

William Desmond (Willie) Steele, Limavady

The death has taken place of William Desmond (Willie) Steele, Passed away peacefully on January 18 2025 at Altnagelvin Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Much loved father of Daniel (Jane) and Alan (Christina), loving Grandfather of Charlie, Jade, Shannon, Bradley, Kyle, Billy, Great grandfather of Ellie-May, Reggie, Alfie and Vinnie. Dear Brother of Alan, Kathleen, Roberta, May, John, Robert. All welcome to call pay their respects to Willie at Browns Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. Funeral will leave Browns Funeral Home on Wednesday at 1.00pm for service in Bovevagh Parish Church at 2.00pm followed by burial in Adjoining Churchyard. Family flowers only please donations if desired and cheques payable to Dementia NI and forwarded to Browns Funeral Directors, 21 Aghanloo Road, Limavady. Willie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his entire family circle.

 

William Young, 5 Glenrush Gardens, Limavady

We regret to inform you that the death has taken place of William Young peacefully at Altnagelvin Hospital on the January 17 2026, Late of 5 Glenrush Gardens, Limavady. Beloved husband of the late Bernadette Ann (Annie) R.I.P. and loving father of Robert, William, Christopher and Michaela and loved dearly by their partners Jayne, Arlene and Laura. Devoted grandfather of Tiernan, Taylor Rose, Leo, Kaiden, Kurtis, Lola Rose, Dear brother of Pat and the late Jean. William wake will commence today, Monday, January 19 2026 at 2.00pm. Funeral service in his late home on Wednesday, January 21 at 12 30pm followed by interment in Enagh Cemetery. At Rest.
