Alice Barr (née Purcell), 211 Carnhill, Derry (Updated arrangements)

The death has occurred of the late Alice Barr (née Purcell), January 21 2025 peacefully at the Foyle Hospice, loving mother of Peter, Margaret, Siobhan, Fiona and James, devoted grandmother of Sarah, Rachel, David, Shannon, Jamie-Lee, Gavin, Jack, Ríon, Gareth, Robyn, Hannah, Killian and the late Lillianna Grace, great-grandmother of Aoife, Zara, Lily, Shea, Aodhan, Harry, Grace, Eimear, Drew and Lennon, former wife of Jim and a much loved mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. Her remains will be reposing in her home, 211 Carnhill. She will be removed from there on Friday at 5.30pm to repose overnight in St Brigid’s Church, Carnhill. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11o'clock. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Family time please from 10.00pm to 11.00am. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers, if wished, to the Foyle Hospice, 61 Culmore Road, Derry, BT48 8JE. Queen of the Most Holy Rosary pray for her. St Pio intercede for her.

 

George Alexander Henry Conn, Glasgow (formerly Tamlaght, Limavady)

The death has taken place of the late George Alexander Henry Conn, January 19 2025, peacefully in Glasgow, formerly of Tamlaght, Limavady. Much loved brother of the late Jean and Victor and uncle to Anne, Karen, Janet and Brian. Funeral service on January 29 in Clydebank Crematorium at 3.30pm. The service may be viewed via  http://www.westreamitfunerals.co.uk/conngh. Very deeply regretted and sadly missed by the entire family circle.

 

Elizabeth Doherty, 4 Lower Road, Derry

We regret to inform you that the death has taken place of the late Elizabeth Doherty, January 22 2025, peacefully at her home 4 Lower Road, beloved daughter of the late James and Agnes, loving sister of the late Philip and John and a loving aunt to all her nieces and nephews. Dearly loved and will be sadly missed by the wider family circle. Elizabeth will be reposing at her home. Removal leaving her home on Friday, January 24 at 6:15pm to St. Eugene’s Cathedral for Requiem Mass on Saturday at 10:00am. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Sacred Heart Of Jesus have mercy on her soul. Our Lady Of Lourdes intercede for her.

 

Majella Doherty (née Kavanagh), 41 Ardnamoyle Park, Shantallow, Derry (Updated arrangements)

The death has taken place of the late Majella Doherty (née Kavanagh), January 21 2025, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, treasured wife of Mark, loving mother of John, Steven, Carmen and the late Kevin, beloved Nana of Briana, Cara-Leigh, Raina, Alayah, Callum, Jack and Wee Johnny, doting great-grandmother of Kai beloved mother-in-law of Amy and Sean, cherished daughter of the late Molly and Harry Kavanagh, daughter-in-law of Irene and the late Pius Doherty, darling sister of Pam, John, William, Cliffy and the late Chucky, Larry and Gerry and a much loved sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. Will be sorely missed by her beloved Buttons. Her remains will be reposing in her home, 41 Ardnamoyle Park, Shantallow. Funeral from there on Saturday at 9.25am for 10o'clock Requiem Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Steelstown. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Family time please from 10.00pm to 10.00am. Queen of the Most Holy Rosary pray for her.

 

Mary Early (née Brown), Maghera

We regret to inform you that the death has taken place of the late Mary Early (née Brown), January 22 2025, beloved wife of the late Francis and loving mother of Joe and Lynn (O’Brien), dear sister of Martin, Bridget and the late Sean. Mary remains will be removed to Church of St Patrick Glen on Friday, January 24 arriving at 5.30pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday at 11.00am  via webcam at st-patricks-church-maghera - MCN (mcnmedia.tv) . Interment afterwards in adjoining cemetery. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on her soul. Deeply regretted by her son, daughter, son in law Dermot, grandchildren, brother, sister and extended family circle. Family flowers only.

 

Daniel Larkin, 8 Beechland Gardens, Clady

The death has taken place of the late Daniel Larkin, January 23 2025, beloved partner of Karen Mullins and loving father of Damien (Michelle), Mark (Steffe), Donna, Tracy (Martin) and Peter (Adele), son of the late Dan and Rite and dear brother of Maureen, Brendan, Hugh, Michael, Paul, Gerry, Eugene and the late James. Funeral from his home, 8 Beechland Gardens on Saturday, January 25 at 1.15pm for 2.00pm Requiem Mass in Church of St Mary Bellaghy. Interment afterwards in adjoining cemetery. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul. Felix McGlinchey, 13 Meadowbank Place, Greysteel

The death has taken place of the late Felix McGlinchey, January 22 2025, beloved son of the late Frank and Elizabeth, 13 Meadowbank Place, Greysteel, loving brother of Patricia, Monica and the late Ena, John, Charlie, Frank, Jane, Hugh, Dessie, Barney and Elizabeth and a much loved uncle, great-uncle and friend. His remains will leave W J O’Brien & Son’s Funeral Home, 110 Clooney Road, Eglinton on Friday at 6.30pm to reposed overnight in Star of the Sea Church, Faughanvale. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 2.30pm. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.

 

Dorothy Elizabeth McKay, 29 Kingsbury Gardens, Coleraine (Updated arrangements)

The death has taken place of the late Dorothy Elizabeth McKay, January 21 2025, peacefully at Causeway Hospital, late of 29 Kingsbury Gardens, Coleraine. Darling wife of the late William, and loving mother of John and Ruth, mother-in-law of Martha and Mark, grandmother of Noel, Clare and Robert, great-grandmother of Micah and Lois. Funeral Service in Macosquin Parish Church on Friday at 3.00pm, followed by interment in the adjoining churchyard. Family flowers only please. Funeral arrangements for the late Brian McKendry, 37 Keady Road, Swatragh, son of the late John and Mary and loving brother of Frank, Peggy (McQuillan), Mary and the late Eddie; brother-in-law of Veronica and Michael and dear uncle of Barry, Eoin, Cora, Ciaran. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, January 26 2025 at 10:30am in St. John the Baptist Church, Granaghan followed by interment of ashes in adjoining cemetery. Rachel Morrison (née Killen), 95 Ardnamoyle Park, Derry (Updated arrangements)

The death has taken place of the late Rachel Morrison (née Killen), January 21 2025, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Owen Mor, Care Home, loving mother of John, Sandie, Pauline, Claire and Stephanie, a devoted grandmother, great-grandmother and Mother-in-law, beloved daughter of the late Alex and Jeannie Killen, (formerly of Springtown Camp), cherished sister of Harry, James and the late Faye, Noreen and Jean. Dearly loved and will be sadly missed by the entire family circle. Rachel will be reposing at her daughter Pauline’s home, 95 Ardnamoyle Park. Funeral leaving 95 Ardnamoyle Park on Saturday, January 25 at 11:50am. to Our Lady Of Lourdes Church, Steelstown for Requiem Mass at 12:30pm. Oliver Mulholland, 34 Duncreggan Road, Derry (Updated arrangements)

The death has taken place of the late Oliver Mulholland, January 22 2025 peacefully at Brooklands Care Home, beloved husband of Kay, 34 Duncreggan Road, loving son of the late Elizabeth and Patrick, dear brother of Mary and Seamus and a much loved brother-in-law, uncle and great-uncle. His remains will be reposing in his home from 11.00am to 4.30pm on Friday. He will then be removed from there to St Patrick's Church, Pennyburn for Requiem Mass on Saturday at 10o'clock. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Harry O’Neill, 3 Beechland Gardens, Clady

The death has taken place of the late Harry O’Neill, January 23 2025, (peacefully at home surround by his loving family, 3 Beechland Gardens, Clady), beloved husband of Mona (McNeilly) much loved father of Nicky, Danell (Hughes) and Shaun, and loving brother of Pat, Anne (Hamill), Francis, Oliver, Monica (O’Neill) and the late Dominic. Harry’s wake and funeral arrangements have yet to be finalised, we will publish them here as soon as they become available. NB: Family time will be requested each day please between 10.00pm – 10.00am. Funeral from there on Saturday at 12.30pm for 1o’clock Requiem Mass in Holy Family Church, Ballymagroarty. Interment afterwards in Burt Cemetery. The death has taken place of the late Thomas William (Bill) Vallely, January 21 2025, (peacefully) at The Bohill Care Centre, Coleraine, late of 28 Shellbridge Park, Coleraine, dearly loved husband of Sheila and a much loved father, father-in-law, grandfather and brother-in-law. Service in Murdock’s Funeral Home, 2a Windsor Avenue, Coleraine on Saturday at 11.30am followed by a private family comittal in Coleraine Cemetery.
