A 53-year-old man, described as a 'danger to the public,' has appeared in court charged with setting fire to the home of his ex-partner.
Anthony McGuigan, of Eventide Gardens, was charged with arson with intent to endanger life when he appeared at Derry Magistrates Court.
The charge relates to a fire at an occupied house in Dungiven in the early hours of Friday morning last.
Refusing bail, District Judge Barney McElholm described the accused as a 'danger to the public.'
McGuigan was remanded in custody to appear in court again on January 8 next.
