Michael McMahon jailed following his 19th bail breach after police caught him at the wrong address during a curfew

A man has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrate’s Court today after breaching his bail by being at the wrong address and blowing an alcohol reading of 155mgs with the legal limit being 35mgs.

Michael McMahon (35) of Clon Elagh in Derry was arrested after police called at an address at 2.40am and the defendant answered the door.

He was not at his bail address and was also in breach of his curfew. A preliminary breath test revealed the reading which is 4 times the legal limit.

Bail was objected to on the grounds that McMahon had 18 breaches in the past and police believed there was no chance he would abide by conditions.

Defence counsel Sinead Rogan said her client accepted the breach but asked for a warning to be given.

District Judge Oonagh Mullan said the defendant had no intention of abiding by conditions and remanded him in custody to appear again next month.
