A man has been given probation at Derry Magistrate's Court for breaching a non molestation order against his former partner.
Caolan Lang (27) of Crawford Square in Derry admitted the breach that occurred on December 17 2022.
The court heard that police were informed that the injured party reported that Lang had been messaging and calling her.
The woman said she felt 'harassed and pestered' due to the volume of calls and messages.
When interviewed Lang told police 'I get that' and said he was only calling out of concern for his child.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said his client had never denied sending the messages or calling the woman but said it was only out of concern for the child.
The solicitor said that he would probably feel pestered if he received nine calls.
Deputy District Judge Liam McStay said that the defendant should put himself in the position of someone receiving all these messages.
He said breaching a court order was 'a serious offence'.
He sentenced Lang to 9 months probation.
