A man who told police he was going to an address he was prohibited from doing and 'there was going to be war' has been given bail on a charge of witness intimidation.

Barry McKee (19) of the Brambles in Magherafelt was charged with witness intimidation on March 23.

A police officer connected the accused to the charges and opposed bail as the offence included a breach of bail.

The court heard that police received a call from the defendant saying he was going to an address he was not supposed to go near and made a threat about what was going to happen.

When police arrived McKee said he was 'going to kick the c--t' out of a potential witness.

He was said to have been 'shouting and screaming' outside the house.

The woman told police that the defendant had been running up to her house shouting.

Defence counsel Fergal McCormack said that this was 'a difficult application' coming so soon after the accused was granted bail.

He said his client had reported himself to police and could be managed under conditions.

Deputy District Judge Alan White granted bail to an address approved by the PSNI and on condition he does not enter Magherafelt.

McKee must also observe a curfew, wear a tag and have no contact with the alleged victims in the case.

He will appear again on April 3.
