Possible disruption to council services is expected throughout County Derry
A number of services could be affected throughout County Derry as a result of Storm Amy this weekend.
Causeway Coast and Glens Council has informed locals refuse collection and household recycling centres could be impacted by the Storm Amy this weekend.
While recycling centres in the borough are currently open to the public, users are advised to use the facilities with caution and to cooperate fully with staff.
Refuse collection services are operating as normal, please expect some delays and be advised that there are some parts, particularly in rural areas, that may be difficult to access due to poor weather conditions.
Householders are advised to leave their bins out as normal making sure they are placed in a secure location, and our teams will endeavour to service them when it is safe to do so.
Services are set to be monitored and any changes will be communicated to residents.
Mid Ulster District Council has also warned of disruption and changes to services today (Friday, October 3) and tomorrow (Saturday, October 4).
The following buildings and facilities will be closed for the duration of the amber warning and will reopen following safety inspections:
All household recycling centres will close at 2.30pm this afternoon (Friday), reopening tomorrow morning as normal.
Outdoor facilities at Meadowbank Sports Arena will be closed from 1:00pm to 10:00pm on Friday. (Indoor facilities will operate as normal). Outdoor facilities at Maghera Leisure Centre will be closed from 1:00pm to 10:00pm on Friday. (Indoor facilities will operate as normal).
Cemeteries will be closed to public access for the duration of the amber weather warning today, Friday, (except for burials), reopening tomorrow morning as normal.
Routine inspections will be carried out on all Council facilities on Saturday morning prior to them reopening. The public are asked to be patient as it may take time for them to open, and they will only be opened when deemed safe to do so.
The council have thanked the public for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
