Get Ready to Scale O’Cahan’s Rock in Roe Valley for Air Ambulance NI

As they recently celebrated their 8th anniversary, Air Ambulance NI are thrilled to announce a thrilling fundraising event that promises to bring joy and camaraderie while making a significant impact in the community!

Since their first lifesaving mission in 2017, Air Ambulance NI has partnered with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) to provide the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) across the province. Every day, it costs over £8,000 to maintain this vital service, made possible only through the unwavering support from local communities, businesses, and generous individuals. Without these contributions, the dedicated medical team would not be able to take to the skies when it matters most.

Harness Your Potential for Air Ambulance NI’s Roe Valley Abseil on September 20th!

Take to new heights with an 80ft abseil down the spectacular O’Cahan’s Rock in Roe Valley Country Park on Saturday 20th September 2025.  This is a fantastic opportunity to tick off the bucket list, whilst also raising much needed funds for the vital life-saving service.

Katrina Hughes, Area Fundraising Manager for the charity encourages people to sign up saying, ‘’We’re calling on all thrill seekers to take on this breathtaking challenge, it’s the perfect day to rally your colleagues for a team building experience, or friends and family for a day out with a difference.

Your participation is crucial in ensuring the continued provision of this life-saving service, which acts as a beacon of hope for the critically ill and injured.”

Don’t hang back, register for the challenge today and embrace the thrill of descending 80ft down the magnificent O’Cahan’s Rock. Whether you are an experienced abseiler or a first timer, this event guarantees an unforgettable adventure in the picturesque surroundings of Roe Valley Country Park in Limavady.

On behalf of everyone at Air Ambulance NI, and all those who have benefited from their services, a heartfelt gratitude is extended to supporters for their continued dedication over the past eight years.

William's Story

As a testament to their crucial work, Air Ambulance NI shares the inspiring story of William, a father of five who suffered life-threatening injuries after being crushed by a dump truck.

Thanks to the rapid response of the HEMS team, who arrived within just 12 minutes, William received immediate critical care that saved his life. With deep gratitude, he expressed, "I owe my life to the Air Ambulance service and the staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital. I will be eternally grateful. So much of what they do is funded by public donations, which have undoubtedly saved countless lives."
