Roemill park damage
A Limavady park has been vandalised for a second time in a row.
Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council spoke about the recent damage done to a vital community hub in the town.
“Council is disappointed that recent repair works to Roemill Accessible Playpark) at the base of play equipment) has been damaged. The damage was caused by individuals who walked in the wet concrete, despite the area clearly being fenced off. The incident, which there is CCTV footage of, has been reported to the PSNI.
“The play park has been very well received in the area and provides a valuable service for local children, especially those with disability, so it’s disappointing that this piece of equipment will be out of action for longer than anticipated due to the actions of a few.
“We would request that members of the public respect all play parks, as damage caused such as this impacts the community’s ability to use the facilities which is very unfair.”
Sinn Fein councillor for Limavady Brenda Chivers has branded the damage an ‘absolute disgrace’.
The councillor reported previous damage done to the park and in this case it has been vandalised again. Damages are said to be upwards of £4,000.
