Crawford’s Butchers in Maghera recently won the title of Supreme sausage makers at the Sausage Makers competition in Newtownabbey. Staff member of Crawford’s Jack McFall took home the award.
In a Facebook post the butchers said they are “pleased” to announce they are .
The Maghera butchers were also awarded & in County Derry.
They thanked competition organiser Scobie and Junor NI for the recognition.
To celebrate this achievement the butchers had a special taste testing of their specialty sausage for the public in their store.
Organisers Scobie and Junor Northern Ireland, hosted their annual sausage competition on 2 April to find out which Northern Ireland butcher makes the best sausages.
Entries came in from all over Northern Ireland and were scored through a blind taste test and categorised, showcasing the talent there is with butchers in Northern Ireland. Judging involved blind tasting by four independent judges. Awards went out to the Best Butchers Apprentice, Country Champions and the overall Supreme Champion.
Scobie and Junor said all entries were of an extremely high quality, and we want to congratulate everyone who entered. Scobie and Junor also like to give back to the community so with that in mind, all proceeds of the open evening were in aid of Action Mental Health (amh.org.uk), supporting vital mental health services across Northern Ireland.
