A JustGiving fundraiser has raised over £11,000 to help towards the funeral expenses of a father-of-one from County Derry who died following an alleged altercation in northern France.

It is understood William Cooper (36), from Coleraine, died following an incident in Dunkirk in the early hours of St. Patrick's Day.

It is believed that a man has been arrested following the suspected violent death of Mr Cooper.

The suspect remains in custody as authorities continue to investigate an incident.

William is the sister of River Radio presenter Victoria Cooper.

Victoria announced on her Facebook page that her brother will be “Home on Irish soil” this Thursday, April 3.

The presenter and social media personality has described losing her dear brother as “the worst experience anyone could ever imagine”.

Victoria also said: “Funeral details will follow, but it's time to get arrangements sorted for the biggest bash this man deserves.”

A JustGiving page dedicated to Mr Copper has superseded its goal of £3.5k and to date has raised £11,780.

On the page the family of William say they are ‘heartbroken’ following the news of his tragic passing and “he will be missed immensely” by them all. They described William as a “kind, funny, caring and loving character.”

The Just Giving Page is still open for donations you can donate here: bit.ly/3DORl0w
