Local hairdressers, Mental health advocates, and LIPS (Limavady Initiative for the Prevention of Suicide), completed a two-day Mental Health First Aid training in collaboration with Limavady MDT, GP Federation, LIPS, facilitated by Marie Dunne, Resilio.

Marie Dunne, Facilitator  explained: “We recognised that hair and beauty professionals often spend significant time with their clients and are often trusted confidants to these clients. With this in mind, we arranged a two-day Mental Health First Aid training event for hair and beauty professionals. Congratulations to participants who completed a two day workshop/ This training provided the participants with the skills necessary to be able to identify, understand and respond to signs of poor mental health in clients / customers.

Marie added: “Participants from the voluntary and community sector also joined the training days which was a wonderful opportunity to network and find out some of the great support available in the Limavady area.”

“Mental Health First Aid does exactly what it says on the tin – it allows us to provide immediate aid to a person in need until a trained professional can provide a more permanent intervention.”
