The White Butterfly Foundation set for Official Launch in Derry's Guildhall

The official launch of The White Butterfly Foundation, a local non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by miscarriage, baby loss, and neonatal death will be officially launched in October. The White Butterfly Foundation, founded by Kilrea woman Selina Casey, is set to host its inaugural events on 10th October at The Long Gallery, Stormont, and 11th October at The Guildhall, Derry.

The White Butterfly Foundation is built on the mission of ensuring that no parent walks the painful journey of loss alone. Through trauma-informed counselling, resources, and personalised care, the Foundation offers emotional and psychological support to help families navigate their grief. In addition, the Foundation strives to raise public awareness through educational workshops and campaigns, dispelling myths surrounding baby loss and promoting compassionate understanding.

Founder Selina Casey expressed her dedication to this cause, stating, "Losing a baby is one of the most profound and isolating experiences a parent can endure. The White Butterfly Foundation was created to provide a safe space for families to find comfort, healing, and hope."

As part of the launch events, The Foundation will introduce its Timeless Tile Collection, a heartfelt series of handmade tiles crafted to commemorate significant dates in the journey of grieving parents, such as due dates and anniversaries. This collection underscores the Foundation’s commitment, with 100% of profits directed towards offering free one-on-one psychological support for bereaved families.

The Foundation’s launch has garnered notable political support, further underscoring the importance of its mission. These two high-profile events during Baby Loss Awareness Week provide an opportunity to highlight the critical work being done to support grieving parents and the need for improved support systems.
